Recently, I have been super into reading true ghost stories. The kind that actually happened in real life, not just rumor. I had an idea to ask my Facebook friends to share their own personal ghost stories with me, and now I am going to share the collection with you! I hope you enjoy :)
*WARNING* DO NOT READ BY YOURSELF AT NIGHT
The Ouija Board & the Apparition:
"It wouldn't be right if I didn't start this off with a true ghost story of my own, right? This story dates back to my childhood when I saw my first and only apparition. I was probably about 13 and it was summertime in Mansfield, Ohio. I visited my father on the weekends and he lived in a creepy old white duplex in a dilapidated neighborhood. The house always gave me weird vibes, so much so that I didn't like to be there. The two sides of the house were connected in the basement by one metal door as well as in the attic by a wooden one. The two sides also shared a back porch that looked out onto a creek and a bunch of trees. It was basically a big old mansion split in half. Every room in the house had wood floors and old wallpaper that was stained and peeling. The ceilings were extremely tall and the rooms were huge.
My step sister Kelsey and I used to play in the creek, skipping all of the stones for miles until we reached the huge mysterious waterfall where we would eat our packed lunch. One evening after a trip to the falls, we returned back to the house to meet our neighbor friend. We would play with her from time to time out on the back porch. She always seemed like trouble and knew a lot more than we did at that age. One night, she brought out this Ouija board that she claimed to have found in her side of the attic. I do remember it looking pretty ancient. I had never played the game before so I just decided to dive right in and put my hand on the planchette. Little did I know that shit was about to get real.
As the sun was going down, the three of us sat down on the floor of the back porch in a circle sitting around the Ouija board. Our view was raindrops falling onto the foggy creek in the backyard so this couldn't have been more perfect. I don't remember every question we asked but I know that the planchette was moving on its own from the beginning. We asked the board if anyone was with us and the planchette quickly moved to answer "yes". I instantly looked out into the distance and distinctly saw a black figure in the shape of a very tall man with a hat. He disappeared into the trees as if he just disintegrated. I ran into the house freaking out and have never touched a Ouija board since."
Mysterious Virgin Mary Plaque
"I don’t have any pictures but about 15 years ago, my family and i were all sitting and laughing in the kitchen. We’re not a family that is all together often so it was pretty nice. My parents are very religious so there’s plenty of religious pictures and plaques around the house. For years, we had a Virgin Mary plaque holding baby Jesus made of metal hanging above the doorway into the kitchen. All of a sudden my sister noticed wax drippings on the floor of the doorway. Naturally, she was confused and asked everyone in the kitchen, “who did it?” We look up and the METAL plaque is dripping wax. My dad takes it off the wall to get a closer look and it looks like Virgin Mary is crying wax tears. The wax starts in her eyes. Needless to say, we are all freaked out. Later that night, my mom found a lump in her breast which 3 weeks later turned out to be breast cancer."

The Ambulance Ghost
"I used to work for a private Ambulance company, we had a contract with the county Morgue to transport dead bodies. So, we’d go to crime scenes and/or homes, pick up the body, put them in the ambulance and drive em to the morgue. We were told to pick up a body from a house. That’s all the info we got. We get there and the woman is downstairs. Needle around here, clearly died of an overdose. We’re driving her to the morgue and the lights and sirens turned on in our ambulance. My partner and i gave each other a weird look and turned them off. Later on in the night, we were talking about how weird it was that our lights and sirens turned on. I was on fb at the same time and I’m scrolling through my timeline, someone i know posted a “RIP” post that lo and behold featured the woman we transported. She was a paramedic, like us. I couldn’t say anything due to privacy but it definitely creeped me out."

3 Short Ghost Stories
"I've got 3 for ya! In our neighborhood where my sister's, brother, and I grew up, there was a house called the HH. (Haunted house). My two sister's and I decided to go in it one afternoon to take pictures and what not, mind you this was the old school camera you took pics with, developed, then threw it away. We heard all kinds of creepy noises but didn't see anything, until my sister got the camera developed. She still has the photo album with the pictures of the face that showed up in all the pictures. We never went in it again.
The second one, my parents experienced in their house. After all of us kids moved out, they were sitting in their living room doing whatever parents do when their kids are gone haha! Well, they heard all these loud banging sounds coming from the dining room. After the noises stopped, they went out there to see what was going on. They had full gallon jugs of water that were sitting on their table and when they went to look the jugs were sitting up in a perfect circle around the table on the floor. All the windows were locked and the back door was as well. I am so happy that I moved out.
As for my last story, I've never told anyone but my current boyfriend and I just told him last week. Actually, I started crying when i was telling him. I was 12 years old, laying down for bed and I started feeling really uneasy that something was under it. Once I got brave enough I looked and was staring at what seemed to be a demon. They're more terrifying than how they make them look these days, but to this day I remember what it looked like in my head. It was the most terrifying experience of my life. It said something to me but I didn't understand it. I just stared at it in complete shock. I took off running to my sister's room and slept in there for the next few weeks. I've never slept through the night again."

The Not So Relaxing Hotel Room

"Okay. Let me preface this by saying that I lied to go on this trip with Mario. And when I lie, something creepy ALWAYS happens! So this was 2008. Me and Mario were both 20 and had only been dating for 2 months and we decided we wanted to spend our Spring Break in Daytona. However, my parents are very strict and very Catholic and there was NO WAY they'd let me go alone with Mario. Even though we pretty much knew we were soulmates and my parents loved him. So to be able to go I lied and said we were going with a huge group of people and we even staged our friends at bars in Akron to make it look like we were on Spring Break so if my parents asked, I had photographic proof. It was awful. So anyways. Mario and I found a cozy little spot called Symphony Beach Club farther away on Daytona Beach, almost to Ormond Beach. We were never big into drinking and partying so we wanted someplace quieter. So we pull in and it looks great. A lot of old people from Canada, so we knew we'd be happy enjoying a nice, quiet week. However, when we got into our room it started getting weird. As soon as we got in there, there was such a weird vibe and I automatically got goosebumps on my arms even though the room was stifling hot. We ignored it and tried to find the door to the bedroom, though the far left wall was just A GIANT MIRROR! That wasn't on Expedia when we booked this place, so we were seriously wandering around this tiny place searching for a bedroom door. Well on the far right wall was a huge armoire and I opened it, and there was the bed.
We were here all of 15 minutes and this place was already sketchy as hell. We just drove over 20 hours straight, so we both showered and took a nap. When we woke up, the entire cover on the wall into air conditioning was off. Like off and across the room on the floor. I'm a super light sleeper and I know I would have heard that cover fall. And even if I somehow was that tired, how the hell did it end up across the room?! So we just kept talking ourselves out being creeped out and put the cover back on and went to dinner. We got back from the boardwalk, that stupid cover was off again and this time against the wall in the corner. Again, we said that there must be a draft or something and let it go. We were watching TV, and it's about 11 o'clock at night and we hear heavy footsteps and someone moving furniture in the room above us. We were obviously like "wtf" but continued to watch TV until bed. We heard them moving around ALL NIGHT! So we get up the next morning and that stupid air conditioner cover is off AGAIN! We choose to laugh it off again and change to go to the beach. The next couple nights are still creepy, we still feel something weird and the air conditioning cover is off every single time we come back from being outside and when we wake up in the morning in the morning. We also hear moving furniture and footsteps above us all night and every night. So it's day number 3 and we are burnt to a total crisp. Spending 3 full days boogie boarding in the ocean takes its toll.
So it's about 4 pm, we get a knock on our door and it's room service. She apologizes for forgetting to give us fresh towels the day before because she forgets we are up there. We are the only people on the 3rd floor and there is no one staying on the 4th. Mario and I look at each other and for being super burnt up, our faces go completely white. We decide to go up there and peek at the room above us. We walk up there and look through the window and there is no one there. No one is staying there, it's super clean and the furniture looks to be in the right spot. So again, we choose to laugh it off because at this point we are both so freaked out that if we were to communicate it, it would become more real. So later that night we stayed in and cooked chicken or something and we were on the couch watching TV when all of a sudden my hair stands up on the back on my neck, I had goosebumps and instantly felt nauseous. I look at Mario and he looks like same way I feel. So I take a deep breath and ask, "Hey. Do you feel that, too?" And he looks at me, so surprised and shouts, "That weird vibe?!?! YES!!" So now we both admitted something weird was going on and we started to just freak each other out more. Later that night, around 11, we hear the footsteps and moving furniture again. We both try to ignore it and eventually fall asleep.
I wake up at 3:00am on the dot because I felt like someone was talking to me. I look over at Mario and he's passed out. So I look straight ahead, at that creepy ass mirror on the wall and I swear I see and face next to mine. I jump up and yell and Mario startled awake and I tell him what I saw. He said he was having a dream that he was talking to someone in the mirror. We both look over, at the exact same time, to see that stupid air conditioner cover off. AGAIN. So we had 2 more nights in this place. Each night around 11, we would hear the moving around upstairs even though NO ONE was staying above us. We would both wake up at 3am from hearing something weird or having a creepy dream eerily similar to what was going on to cause the other to wake up. We continued to feel nauseous as soon as we walked in the room and felt like that until we left. We spent most of our time at the beach or at the boardwalk because neither of us wanted to go back in the room. That was almost 10 years ago. We've been back to Florida multiple times since then and NOT ONCE have we ever considered going back to Symphony Beach Club. And to be honest, I'm not really sure if it's even there any longer. Good riddance!"

Hearing Whispers In The House
"Hi Michaela! So I experienced a lot of strange things growing up in my childhood home, like animals acting strangely and following things around the room that we couldn't see. We were also hearing and seeing things that couldn't be explained and getting all around strange feelings. There are a few experiences that have always stuck out in my mind. Around the age of 12, I started hearing voices in the house. I'm aware of how insane that makes me sound. They always seemed to be at a whisper but easy to understand for the most part. They also pretty much always whispered my name. When it first happened, I wasn't even bothered by it because I thought my mom was calling me from downstairs. So I called back to her and she said she didn't say anything. I heard it again and assuming it was my mom messing with me, I yelled down to her again to knock it off, but she argued back that she never said anything. I heard it once more and finally went downstairs to find my mom washing dishes. I tried to get her to fess up to the whispers but she, very convincingly, told me she had nothing to do with it. We were the only two in the house. After the initial experience, the whispers happened fairly regularly. Naturally, it freaked me out more and more as time went on. So one day I'm talking with my parents about it and we're kind of making light of it, joking around and I say to them, "I'm telling you, they're out to get me!" And my mom says, "If they were out to get you, don't you think they would have done so by now?" Right as she finishes that question a single picture surrounded by 7 others from the mantle above the fireplace flies to the ground. Who is the picture of? Me and only me! Coincidence? Nahhh.
Another time I was upstairs in the bathroom getting ready to go to a friends and was the only one home. I saw a little white thing move across the floor into my parents' room. Assuming it was our dog, I went in after him but couldn't find him. I looked under the bed and all around but he wasn't there. Then I hear the dogs barking and remember I put them outside before I went upstairs. So now I'm freaked out and I'm standing at the edge of our stairs thinking I'm losing my mind when I hear someone right in my ear whisper "Brittany!" I was out, Haha. I also saw a man walk by me once in our dining room while everyone was home and sitting one room over watching T.V. I asked my dad if he walked through to the kitchen and he looked confused while he told me he had been in the chair the whole time watching T.V. I told them a man with short black hair wearing a white button down and black pants just walked by me. My mom looked puzzled and got up to call my grandma. She said my great grandpa had dark hair and wore a white button down with black pants to work. She called my grandma to confirm and found out she was correct. Now I know a lot of men might wear that clothing but it was strange either way lol."

The Oreo Cookie Story
"My dads friends had a house in Canton that had a small Indian burial ground in the backyard. Nothing major. Ever since they lived there, they'd notice things rearranged in the house when they'd leave rooms. Beds being made and such. One time when they were on vacation, they came back to the basement flooded. ALL OF THE CORDS were unplugged and set on top of the washer and dryer. No electric damage. So they proceed to tell me the ghost was a man who loved sweets. They offered me Oreos. I had a handful and had set some down on the counter behind me. Now mind you, this was a breakfast buffet style counter in between kitchen and dining room. NO ONE was behind me. No pets. Nothing. After about 2-3 minutes I go to turn around and get my Cookies and they were all gone except one. They said he'd always leave enough to share. Found a bitten cookie and crumbs in the living room. My mom who's always felt spirits had a horrible sinking feeling the whole time she was there. Freaking wild."

Ghostly Soldier
"Years back, I had a friend who lived in Walnut hills. I was staying there and I woke up one night to see a soldier looking at me. I figured I was disoriented. Days later, I was telling my grandma where my friend lived and she told me that her and my Grandpa used to live there, that it used to be military housing. Was enough confirmation for me. Thought I would share."

Shadows in Salem
"So as you know I have visited Salem, Massachusetts five times. Two years ago, we stayed in the family suite in the Captain West house built in 1834. Our first night there, I woke up in the middle of the night and swore I saw a shadow person moving across the room. I didn't take it too seriously because the previous year, I also thought I saw a entity that ended up being my shirt hanging on a coat rack the next morning lol. This was different though. I saw it very clearly and watched it move from one end of the room to the other. These types of things don't bother me at all. So I moved on, not really thinking much of it based on my experience the previous year. The day we left, my friend Beth bought a book, it was something like "Salem's most haunted places".
As we were waiting for our cab to Boston Logan, she showed me in the book that our room in The Salem Inn is notorious for people seeing shadow people. At that moment, there was no doubt left in my mind what I had seen, because I've had other experiences, but never had described them as shadow people. The people at the Inn won't acknowledge it. But it was all too bizarre not to be real. I also caught what I see as 2 full body apparitions near the old Town Hall. I will add some photos of the room, and the picture I see the 2 apparitions in. Some people see them right away, others are skeptical and do not see what I see."

The Haunted Hang-Out Spot
"My Friend Ian Mitchell used to live in the big house on Lincoln Way in Massillon, Ohio across the street from pizza hut (the one with the 3 car garage). Johnny and I used to stay at Ians house for hours on end just hanging out. The house was formally owned by the Massillon Library. It has all original wood, floors, doors, etc from the era it was built. It used to be a log cabin, until it was refinished on the outside. The house has a lot of unexplained activity all hours of the day (wonder how the new family who bought it is handling it). The house is historical due to it being a part of the underground rail road. It has tunnels in the basement but the door is unable to open it was sealed by the the original owners in 1880. The house has a lot of cubby holes and extra rooms where they would hide slaves, kinda like how Spring Hill has. There were three encounters that scared the hell out of us. The first, was when we were in the added on area of the house, which was Ians living area. We took a picture of our boys sitting on a chair in the living room in front of a mirror. Inside the picture, within the mirror, clear as day, no denying it, was a black man with scruffy hair and a dirty white tank top standing there looking angry. It wasn't a shadow and it wasn't someone who was in the house that day. It creeped us out horribly. We actually left and didn't come back for awhile lol. Second encounter. Johnny was washing some clothes which was in a hallway down from Ians area. Johnny called me over because he needed help with something. Nobody was there but us and Ian and Ian was outside in the backyard talking to his girlfriend. As we were standing there, The lights shut off in the hallway and we heard something running up behind us. We looked and nobody was there. The lights came back on and we ran back to Ians living area and the lights started flashing on and off and then loud thuds followed by a door slamming. We left after that lol. Third encounter includes a video on my old cell phone too. We were all hanging out in Ians living area. They guys were rapping and asked me to record it. So i did and as we looked back at the video, there was a blue ball of light that came down from the hallway and it shot across the screen twice. I didn't see it with my naked eye. So weird. Then after that we went down to the pool room and all of the doors and little cubby holes that were used to hide the slaves were all OPEN. We never opened any of them. The story behind this house is really cool. Look into it. I have to find that phone so i can show you. At least i wasn't the only one there who witnessed everything so no one can say I'm crazy."

*The creepiest part about this story is that I have actually looked through this entire house when it was for sale and we all got instantly bad vibes. This house is scary.*
Short, Sweet and Creepy
"I had a ghost throw a knife across the room at me and broke a (lit) candle jar and a light bulb that were sitting on my dresser. The candle landed in the trashcan after it broke and fell off the dresser, and the knife was just laying there on the floor. I swear that shit was possessed. "

Georgia On My Mind
"My old boss has tons of ghost stories. I used to go to work every day like, "tell me what Georgia did last night lol." Georgia was the lady that lived in her house. My boss told me about a time that she was laying in bed with her boyfriend one night and she sat up straight, looked at him and said, “Hello I’m Georgia, do not mess with my hostas.”, in Georgia’s voice. She laid back down and he woke her up like "WTF!" and she didn’t even remember any of it.
They also have an autistic son that sees her all the time. He will lay in bed quiet until he falls asleep. One night he was SCREAMING, terrified and they ran in and the boy said that a lady was in the corner telling me to be quiet. She will unroll toilet paper and turn lights on that have been burnt out for months. She moved the baby when he was a few weeks old, off the couch and onto the floor once. He was smiling and giggling at something. My boss told Georgia to never touch the baby again and she hasn’t since. The dog is also super scared of her. He was in his crate and peed like exorcist style. Her boyfriend was knelt over cleaning it up and heard my bosses voice say, “Wow what a mess here’s more towels”, and he reached back and grabbed the towels. When he was done, he walked into the bedroom and Keri, my boss, was sound asleep. They eventually moved out into Jackson. It turns out that their backyard was an old battlefield from however long ago and their son always sees a man in army gear in the back yard "

This concludes part one of "True Ghost Stories From Friends". I received so many responses this time. I realized that there are SO many people with their own personal paranormal experiences. A lot of people don't talk about these things on a daily basis, but when prompted, have dozens of stories to share. I am absolutely planning on doing a part two! With that said, if you have any true ghost stories please do message me and share away! I would love to feature it on the next one! Thank you for reading. Also, a special thank you to everyone who sent me their story. I was blown away and totally creeped out.
Creep On, Kids.
